Company Profile/ Derek Gossett

Derek formed Centurion AMS with Glen Webb in 2002 as an equal managing member. Prior to establishing the company, Derek was employed for a supplemental 121 air carrier with over “ten years service”. During his tenure, he served many positions within the organization gathering the skills necessary to launch Centurion AMS. This diversity of experience culminated in the positions of Chief Inspector/Quality Control Manager.

As a vital member of the quality control team, his responsibilities included oversight and control of aircraft records and maintenance activities to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and the Federal Aviation Regulations. Based on these administrative duties and as a member of the maintenance review board committee tasked with the continous airworthiness and surveillance of the airline, Derek was key in revising and streamlining maintenance manual and company general maintenance manual practices and developing and implementing changes to the maintenance program. As a result of these efforts, safety was enhanced and cost savings were achieved through policy modification and increased aircraft and systems reliability.

Further, Derek performed physical aircraft inspections during sale and lease returns, accomplished heavy maintenance visit progress assessments and liaisoned with Federal Aviation Administration Principal Maintenance/Avionics Inspectors during audits and inspections, including Regional Aviation Safety Inspection Program, National Aviation Safety Inspection Program and Department of Defense evaluations.
