which supersedes AD 2005-18-02, becomes effective March 22, 2011 and applies to JT8D-209, -217, -217A, -217C & -219 series turbofan engines. Paragraph (f) requires a revision to the Time Limits Section (TLS) of the manufacturer’s engine manual, part number 773128, as appropriate for the above listed series turbofan engines within 180 days after the effective date of the AD.

We will be tracking the requirements of this AD under paragraph (f) with a due date of September 18, 2011. For those JT8D engines that are not applicable by model we have performed the AD note as “not applicable” for your historical records.

which supersedes AD 2005-02-03, becomes effective April 28, 2011 and applies to JT8D-209, -217, -217A, -217C & -219 series turbofan engines. The torque check requirement for the 3rd and/or 4th stage LPT blades remain the same as required under the superseded AD 2005-02-03. Paragraph (q) has been revised to require the following replacements at the next accessibility to the LPT-to-exhaust case bolts and nuts:

(1) Replace the bolts with part number (P/N) MS9557-26 bolts; and
(2) Replace the nuts with P/N 375095 nuts or P/N 490270 nuts; and
(3) Install crushable sleeve spacers, P/N 822903, under the head of the bolts.

We will continue to track the 3rd and/or 4th stage LPT blades torque check requirements of this AD using the intervals previously tracked under AD 2005-02-03. For those who previously accomplished paragraph (q) under AD 2005-02-03, you will now see the new requirement under paragraph (q) for AD 2011-07-02. For those who did not perform paragraph (q) under AD 2005-02-03, that requirement will be removed and the new requirement under paragraph (q) for AD 2011-07-02 will now be listed.

becomes effective March 4, 2011 and applies to JT8D-7, -7A, -7B, -9, -9A, -11, -15, -15A, -17, -17A, -17R & -17AR series turbofan engines. Paragraph (f) requires a revision to the Time Limits Section (TLS) of the manufacturer’s engine manual, part number 481672, as appropriate for the above listed series turbofan engines within 30 days after the effective date of the AD.

We will be tracking the requirements of this AD under paragraph (f) with a due date of April 3, 2011. For those JT8D engines that are not applicable by model we have performed the AD note as “not applicable” for your historical records.

10/25/2010  AD 2010-21-17
becomes effective November 12, 2010 and applies to JT8D-9, -9A, -11, -15, -17 & -17R turbofan engines. This AD requires the overhaul of the stage 1 fan blades. Paragraph (f) requires overhaul of the blades at 4,000 CIS since the last overhaul of the fan blades or next shop visit after the effective date of the AD, whichever occurs later. Paragraph (g) requires overhaul of the blades at the next shop visit after the effective date of the AD for those blades where the last overhaul is unknown.

Unless we are otherwise notified, we will be tracking the requirements of this AD under paragraph (g) until accomplishment, at which point the 4,000 CIS repetitive overhaul requirement of paragraph (h) will become effective.
